The Nissan Figaro was first shown at the Tokyo motor show in 1989 sporting the tagline "Back to the future". It was based on the same platform as the Nissan Micra but featured distincitve retro styling; an idea that a lot of manufacturer's borrowed in following in years. So, you ended up with a car that looked like a classic and drove well but had the dependability of a modern Nissan; what's not to like? It's not surprising that these have gained a big following in the UK.
